The new Pokémon Go app is as infectious as the bubonic plague. If you don't play it, you know someone who does. While the "go" part of the game's name reflects its intent to get players to walk, run, and bike, thousands of "trainers" are finding ways to play from inside a car. Many entrepreneurs are even offering special Pokémon chauffeur services.
Want to improve your game? Here are a few great ways to use your new vehicle from Hyman Bros. Automobiles to catch 'em all... as well as what you should never do!
Do: Drive around a populated downtown area, like Richmond and Midlothian, and have your passenger hit the many Poke Stops available.
Do Not: Go alone! If you can't find a friend to hand your phone to, do not try to drive while playing. Find a place to park, and walk around town instead.
Do: Drive under 20mph in low-speed-limit neighborhoods or parking lots. It will add kilometers to your eggs, and you should always drive slowly and carefully in these areas anyway.
Do Not: Drive 15mph where the speed limit is higher. Commuters with places to be will not be happy about you blocking traffic, and you risk being rear-ended. Don't try to catch Pokémon and drive, no matter how slow you are going. Areas with 15mph speed limits are designated that way because there may be children playing, or other pedestrians around. Hand the phone to your passenger.
Do: Have your passenger use an incense while you're driving down a country road. Many rural Virginia routes have no Poke Stops along them, but incense will draw monsters to your location and make a boring drive more fun.
Do Not: Pull a handbrake turn when your passenger shouts, "I just missed a pikachu, go back!" Sorry, friend, you'll get that raichu eventually. Never drive erratically because of Pokémon. If you must turn around, find a safe place to do so.
